Incubator research at Longhorn Startup Camp

UT Administration Building - 7th Floor - 1616 Guadalupe StreetUT-Austin doesn’t just want to encourage student entrepreneurship, we are also trying to transform and create opportunities for students and student organizations to manage the innovation process. For the past year, a collaboration of entrepreneurial entities on-campus have administered Longhorn Startup Camp on 17th and Guadalupe. The Austin Technology Incubator has taken care of logistics while Dr. Bob Metcalfe, Josh Baer and Ben Dyer are growing their Longhorn Startup program from here.

The camp is simple, class A office space provided at no cost to Longhorn startups, driven by students. The startup incubator is 30,000 square feet so we’ve been able to operate under the assumption of infinite space. Giving as much as any startup that asks for it can reasonably use.

For the summer, the University has trusted LEA with management responsibilities of the space. With the goal of staying out of the entrepreneur’s way as much as possible…
